2020 Award Recipients

RSO of the Year
Filipino-American Student Association (FASA)
The award for RSO of the year goes to the Filipino-American Student Association (FASA)! Congratulations! Through their annual cultural events, workshops, retreat and the positive community they foster during their meetings, FASA truly embodies what it means to be a Registered Student Organization. They tirelessly put on weekly programming, show a consistent dedication to the WSU community and provide a network of support for Filipino students.
The Registered Student Organization of the Year award recognizes an organization that makes a significant effort to further its purpose through its contribution to Washington State University and the Pullman community. The organization demonstrates consistent flexibility, initiative, creativity, and perseverance through their activities and programs. The organization embodies the WSU spirit through its commitment to leadership development, collaboration among groups, and programming efforts to enhance the quality of campus life at Washington State University. The Registered Student Organization of the Year is considered a role model for other organizations on our campus.

Most Engaged RSO
Emerging Leaders
The award for Most Engaged RSO of the Year goes to WSU’s Emerging Leaders for their continued focus on engaging with their community and the WSU student body. Congratulations! Whether it be through their participation in the adopt-a-block program, the Emerging Leaders Weekend, or their Get-Involved Panel, Emerging Leaders is a cornerstone of leadership and engagement at WSU.

This includes an organization focused on having a positive presence on and off-campus while fostering inclusivity through actions that impact students in a meaningful way.

Most Supportive Advisor
Darryl Craig
Kinesiology Club
The award for Most Supportive Advisor goes to Darryl Craig and his work advising the Kinesiology Club! “Mr. Craig is a proponent of leadership roles for the students within the club by providing opportunities and support. In all aspects of the club, he is present as a guide and support, helping to elevate the student experience for the members of the club.” – The Kinesiology Club. The Kinesiology Club strives to create community by providing students with opportunities to foster professionalism, network with faculty, and form connections with peers.
This award goes to an advisor who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to support their organization in various ways. The students in this organization have felt that their advisor has gone above and beyond for them, and in return want to recognize them for their contributions.

Spirit of Service
Masters of Design
WSU Eunoia Publication
The award for Spirit of Service goes to the Masters of Design for their WSU Eunoia Publication! Congratulations! The WSU Eunoia is designed, published, and promoted by students, for students, as a place to showcase the work by students in the School of Design and Construction. The Masters of Design is a new student-led graduate student organization within the School of Design and Construction. The group's mission is to create opportunities for the advancement of learning and social activities and to act as a liaison between SDC graduate students of all disciplines and the faculty.
This award recognizes an outstanding student organization that reflected a dedication to service and/or the environment and demonstrated excellence in community service with the intent to impact the campus or community.

Collaborative Event
Black Men Making a Difference (BMMAD)
MLK 2020 Celebration
The award for Collaborative Event of the Year goes to Black Men Making a Difference (BMMAD). Congratulations! BMMAD was a large WSU MLK 2020 Celebration collaborator that hosted sociopolitical comedian W. Kamau Bell. BMMAD gives positive representation to the young black men and women on campus in combating negative stereotypes that may surround them.
This award recognizes a group of organizations (two or more) that have worked together to sponsor or host an event that benefitted the WSU community and demonstrated excellence and success as a result of working together.

Education Event
Shark Conservation Club
Shark Week 2019
The award for Educational Event of the Year goes to the Shark Conservation Club for their Shark Week 2019! Congratulations! The week brought public events that included experts, a shark dissection, a documentary and more for all levels of interest in shark and greater environmental conservation. The Shark Conservation Club is dedicated to sharks for the huge part they play in the ocean ecosystem.
The award recognizes a student organization event that demonstrates a commitment to celebrating diversity within the WSU community.

Cultural Event
Iranian Students Association
Yalda Night Celebration
The award for RSO Cultural Event of the Year goes to the Iranian Students Association for their Yalda Night Celebration!
The celebration introduced participants to Iranian culture through a cultural exhibition, traditional Iranian music, traditional Persian dance and much more! The Iranian Students Association is an organization by and for Iranian students to inform and promote awareness about Iran and the Persian culture within the WSU and the Palouse communities.
The award recognizes a student organization event that provides a transformational, outside of the classroom learning experience.
